Bryon A. White - President/ CEO
Bryon began seeking investors for the Yaupon Asi Tea concept in 2010. He had learned about the ritual uses of Yaupon Tea, or the “black drink” through his study of ethno-botany, or the study of how and why people use plants. Bryon was infatuated with the thought of a Yaupon industry in his native Central Florida, and sought the help of the online funding source, Kickstarter, to help make his dream a reality. Unfortunately, his project failed to achieve adequate funding through Kickstarter, but his efforts there attracted the attention of local entrepreneur, Tom Alcorn, who continues to steward the company to this day. Under the leadership of Bryon and Tom, the company has opened its door to become the first ever of its kind. Bryon is an avid gardener, arts patron, and “petty philanthropist”. He possesses a B.S. in Law from the University of Central Florida, and an M.S. in Criminal Justice Administration from Loyola University New Orleans. He is primarily responsible for product development, quality control, and package design.
Thomas D. Alcorn - Managing Member/ Tribal Elder
Tom Alcorn has been called the “Economic Emperor” of Volusia County, Florida, and it would seem like he has done everything in his power to earn the title. Tom is a financial guru, and handles all business matters for Yaupon Asi Tea, LLC. Tom is a well-known face in the local real estate industry, and is also the publisher of the top local online publication, the NSB Observer, which has been in business for almost a century. Tom is also well-known for his contributions to the local community, and he is committed to Yaupon Asi Tea’s policies of business accountability and charitable giving. Tom earned both a Bachelor’s and an MBA in Finance from Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky. Tom has also served as a college professor, lecturer, and mentor.
Kyle White – Logistics Coordinator
Kyle takes care of all of the shipping, packaging, packing, inventory, and harvesting here at Yaupon Asi Tea. Literally, the place could not function without him. He’s Bryon’s younger brother, and like Bryon, he also works as an Ocean Rescue Lifeguard at the Volusia County Beach Patrol. If you order some of our products, odds are, Kyle is the person who lovingly packed it by hand, in the heat, for little or no money. Thanks, Kyle!
